Up until Now

“Up until now” is a great declaration of an end of what came before now.

Now life for me is the communication of our true reality one to another. This poem/declaration is about realizations and a determination to maintain a new perspective;  purposing to leaving behind common ways many have experienced others and the way I once chose to see life. For our perspective informs our perceptions. The more our perspective aligns with reality as it actually shows up, the more our experiences will be true to life NOW.

So we must see things as they really are, lest we be deceived by our own understandings. I once was; “up until now”!

.

Up Until Now…

Up until now I allowed a disconnect between my heart and my head.  Up until now I could feel the big ball of emotions; my reactions to others pulsating just outside of my gut.  Some feelings I could discern, others would flood me there were many and so strong; I could not differentiate them.

Up until now I would hide from them in the strong tower of my understanding of the love of God.  I could run into my emotional love for others and not have to feel their suffering because it would overwhelm me. I could avoid the fact that I had contributed to their suffering by feeling loving, but not always acting in loving way’s.

Up until now when I was at rest, calm or safe I could feel others pain, suffering and struggles. Sometimes it would scare me. Sometimes I tried to fix them because I thought I was god and thought I could, or I was arrogant enough to believe I actually understood.

Up until now I sometimes hid from the reality of the struggles and pain that is this life. Up until now I thought I could hide, but then I realized this is life, and it is now or it is not at all.

Now life to me is in the communication of the reality of our true existence to one another and God is at the very heart of it. Up until now I stood sometimes on the outside of real life or I would skate on the surface of it, thinking  I understood,

Up until now…

.

Foot Notes:

The word Logos (“the Word”) in Greek, can legitimately be rendered as conversation!

John 1:1-4   A Clive Scott Translation

It all arose out of a conversation,
conversation within God, in fact the
conversation was God. So, God started the
discussion, and everything came out of this,
and nothing happened without consultation.

This was the life, life that was the light of men,
shining in the darkness, a darkness which
neither understood nor quenched its creativity.

John, a man sent by God, came to remind
people about the nature of the light so that
they would observe. He was not the subject
under discussion, but the bearer of an
invitation to join in.

The subject of the conversation, the original
light, came into the world, the world that had
arisen out of his willingness to converse. He
fleshed out the words but the world did not
understand. He came to those who knew the
language, but they did not respond. Those
who did became a new creation (his children),
they read the signs and responded.

These children were born out of sharing in
the creative activity of God. They heard the
conversation still going on, here, now, and
took part, discovering a new way of being people.

To be invited to share in a conversation
about the nature of life, was for them, a glorious
opportunity not to be missed.
