Are you having a hard time adjusting to life as its showing up for your today? Has this been going on for a while?
Perhaps your going through the Knot Hole of Life?
The Knot Hole of Life is an opportunity for transition, re-calibration of perspective, and perceptions. It is a supernatural portal, a transition of the soul. It is needed because as we grow and move through life, things change about us. We are seldom fully equipped for everything life presents us. This is true as we move through life or grow to understand the situations we find ourselves in.
There seem to be fences between various aspects of life. These include seasons, communities, realms of authority or knowledge, and geographic territories. Fences are about our relationships in places. They define how we connect when we move through or camp in them for a while.
We and others, build the fences between these realms. They are built with our own or others’ philosophy about how things work or what is real. They are also built with theologies, priorities, principles, business policies, rules, regulations, agreements or laws. Or our interpretations of these. These define our behaviors within these arenas in life. They sometimes need to change for us to move through life more effectively or for us to grow up.
People and situations challenge us. Situations and individuals challenge our philosophy or theologies about life, truth and reality. These are the definers of our way’s through life. Our way’s make us or break us based on their ability to deal with the demands of reality. We must learn to move from one way of being into another to grow.
At times our principles or understanding are immature or insufficient to meet the demands of reality. This is when we need to grow otherwise we fight, flee or freeze – thus stagnating. We hinder or own growth by ignoring the situations or lessons with the challenging people we meet. Our understanding can be simply insufficient to meet the demands of reality. We suffer if our coping mechanisms are immature. We make others suffer with us if our coping mechanisms are insufficient or inappropriate. Our behaviors can be inappropriate even dangerous if we are in positions of authority or responsibility over others lives. When we are tired of the ways created by our current state, we must be willing to change. It is then that we are drawn toward the Knot Hole of Life.
Dr. Henry Cloud, in his great book “Integrity- the courage to meet the demands of reality,” discusses aspects of personalities. He writes about dysfunctional aspects of personalities regarding their impact on relationships with others. He suggests “We leave a wake as we move through a room”. The nature of our wake is the reality of our being within the context of others about us. We help situations by the effectiveness of our approaches. Alternatively, we can hurt others through our ways through life.
We are drawn through the Knot Hole of Life into wider understanding. It is a supernatural because it is the place where spirit, soul and our natural ways of being converge. We need to break through the fences in our minds and hearts if they are not in alignment with reality. We must push past ineffective or false perspectives to enter a new realm of being or behaving.
The knot hole is a growth process. It exposes and informs us of the reality of our being with others. We generally need to humble ourselves to grow or change. We must see how we really are showing up to others. This helps us grow or change our ways. This is necessary if we are doing more harm than good in the communities we are in. Most people judge themselves by their intentions. They judge others by their actions. To get through the Knot Hole of Life, we need to honestly recognize our actual behaviors. We must also understand their results in the lives of others. We must face the truth of our behaviors and their results.
My experience is that life pushes us into the knot hole. We can only get through it naked and ashamed. It is too constricting for our: pride, vanity, selfishness or self serving ways to get through with us. If we do not let go of them we do not get through to find an expansive; real life. We can then leave our shame behind us for we have touched truth and found grace. A real life is one in harmony with the supernatural. Our conniving, manipulative self serving way’s do not lead to true life but to the Knot Hole of Life. We must leave them behind to expand our life beyond these limiting elements of or own personality. We must leave our false, or insufficient self behind us. We need to shed these parts of ourselves to learn to walk in the realms of wonder and glory!
We can get through the Knot Hole of Life. Beyond it, we can find new garments of personality and ways of being. These will be effective in the new place we have found ourselves.
May you let go of your false way’s (your former self). Trust in true life and grow in integrity and wholeness. May you be who you wish to become. Leaving your pride and vanity behind you. Gain “The courage to meet the demands of reality”.

Fantastic article. I have realized, because of age and life transitions the “Old Selves” are not crtical. One must define the New self based on present circumstances. However, the True Self, created in the Image and Likeness of our Creator remains, regardless circumstances and that truly is the guiding force.
